York Teaching Hospital Charity’s Dementia Appeal
York Teaching Hospital Charity cares for your local hospitals from York to the Yorkshire Coast. Proving funding for the improvements and extras over and above what the NHS can provide, the hospital charity helps to make hospitals a better place to be for patients and staff.
The Dementia Appeal is specifically to provide equipment, training and facilities to help improve the hospital environment for people living with dementia when they visit or stay in hospital. The appeal aims to raise £200,000 to make these improvements. It is estimated that 850,000 people are living with dementia in the UK and one in six people over the age of 80. With an aging population, the demand on our hospitals to provide a dementia friendly environment and specialised care is only going to increase and the improvements the appeal has already been able to make are helping patients, their carers, families and friends every day.
