New faces on policy group

York & North Yorkshire’s main business support organisation has placed new blood on its main policy-making group.

The area’s Chamber of Commerce elected two new business representatives onto its Leadership Group earlier this month.  Best Western’s Graham Usher, General Manager at the Monkbar Hotel, and Andrew Digwood, Partner with law firm Rollits, both joined the group at the Chamber’s annual meeting in July.

The group meets quarterly to focus on business needs and concerns in the patch, and how to lobby for improvements. Other partners such as the local authority sit on the group, which is chaired by the York & North Yorkshire Chamber President, Ed Everard.

Ed said: “The York & North Yorkshire Leadership Group plays an important role in developing policy positions within the Chamber. We’re grateful to the members who give up their time in this way – it helps to ensure the Chamber is the voice of business for the area.  I’m pleased, therefore, to welcome on board Graham and Andrew and look forward to their contributions in upcoming meetings.”

Andrew has been with Rollits for 12 years, and has been a partner since 2012. He specialises in dispute resolution.  Graham has been at the Monkbar four and a half years and was previously at Ilkley’s Craiglands Hotel.

The election meeting was followed by a lunch addressed by the Theatre Royal’s Chief Executive, Liz Wilson.
