Today, with less than one month to go until Le Grand Depart, a GIANT yellow jersey was revealed on the roof of the McArthurGlen’s York Designer Outlet to celebrate the Tour de France coming to Yorkshire.
As a tribute to the famed yellow jersey worn by the winner of the Tour de France each year, the centre has launched the huge 40 m² structure which will lie across the roof of the centre until the end of Le Grand Depart as an attraction for overhead viewers of the race.
McArthurGlen York’s Centre Manager, Mike Thomas says: “The giant yellow jersey is our way of celebrating how thrilled we are that Le Grand Depart of the Tour de France is coming to Yorkshire. As an official spectator hub we want the centre to be buzzing with excitement and we have a host of activities lined up for the main event.”
The launch of the giant yellow jersey marks the start of activities at McArthurGlen York to welcome Le Grand Depart to Yorkshire. As a landmark destination in the city, the centre will be an official spectator hub over Le Grand Depart weekend. A big screen will be up on Sunday 6 July so visitors can watch the race and over the weekend the centre will be offering entertainment to enjoy including a craft fayre with homemade jewellery and gifts, sports demonstrations, falconry displays and a pop up French-themed bistro from PapaKata as well as special offers from the stores.
